Lens Flare

Today’s Daily Prompt asks what we see when we look out of our literal or figurative window – the trees or the forest. And it made me think of the way that I see the world in general. And how I see things compared to how I see them through my viewfinder. And the first line this poem came to mind. Enjoy.

Cape Town Photo

Looking out over Cape Town

My eyes are like my camera lens
Zooming in and out at will
Casting a wide net on the world
Or focusing on a single detail
Or two or three.
Back and forward
Between telephoto and wide angle
And capturing the details
In the vault of my mind
Until one day it will be lost forever
All sights unseen
But living on in memory.
